300.00 Hours Required

This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, nail building (application and maintenance of artificial nails) and pedicuring. The course content includes nail anatomy, disorders of nails, and irregularities of nails; theory and salesmanship as it relates to manicuring; actual practice in manicuring; and arm, hand, and foot massage. Manicurist students must complete 300 hours in an approved beauty school or college before applying to the State Board of Cosmetic Arts for examination.

The Nail Technician Workforce Certificate offers students the opportunity to receive the instruction and skills without placement tests, general education requirements, and college applications. Students pay continuing education’s rates without regard to residency requirements.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in nail salons and related businesses.

Students must purchase a materials kit through the SCC bookstore at an additional cost. Virginia residents pay the same rate as in-state students.
