Course Description

Gain the skills needed to create a classroom environment that fosters learning, equity, inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness through Surry Community College's Teacher Assistant Pathway, which is offered online. Students will learn to demonstrate a working knowledge of literacy development and best practices and use professional teaching standards to support individual student needs and promote positive outcomes for students.
EDU-3010A (Effective Teacher Assistant) course will cover 48 of the 96 hours necessary to become an effective Teacher Assistant.

A Human Resource Development class (HRD-3004C) is also required to satisfy the 48 remaining hours necessary to become an effective Teacher Assistant. The class is $125; however, students may qualify for a tuition waiver.
HRD-3004C prepares students for the WorkKeys Skills Assessments, which are necessary to become an effective Teacher Assistant.

Please call or email Jennifer Pardue, 336-386-3674 or parduejs@surry.edu, to register for HRD-3004C.
