Course Description

This course will teach you the hands-on skills needed to help prepare and give out medications in both hospital and retail pharmacies, all under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

You'll learn about:

  • Packaging and labeling medications

  • Helping patients pick up prescriptions

  • How medications are handled in hospitals

  • Rules for controlled substances

  • Managing pharmacy inventory

  • Making non-sterile (non-injectable) medicines

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to perform basic pharmacy tasks with supervision in different work settings. This course also helps you get ready to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) from PTCB, so you can become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

Notes

  • Please bring your book on the 1st day of class.

  • Students should possess excellent computer skills.
