Course Outline

Nursing Assistant Program Policies:
• The clinical site requires a criminal background check and a urine drug screen. Failure to obtain a urine drug screen on the designated day will result in dismissal from the program. It is at the discretion of the clinical site, not the college, to determine if students are eligible to attend clinical. If your criminal background check /urine drug screen leads to ineligibility, you will be dismissed from the program.
• In rare instances, clinical site or classroom dates may vary from your schedule. These are rare and usually occur because of instructor emergency or inclement weather. You must have a flexible schedule. Refunds are not given for schedule changes that students cannot accommodate. Make-up days, such as in the case of inclement weather, will be at the discretion of your instructor.
• The attendance policy is very strict. Students may only miss twelve (12) hours. Any clinical hours missed must be made up hour for hour regardless of the reason. If students are more than 10 minutes late for class, they will be docked one full hour. Any part of an hour missed equals one hour.
• Students will have multiple choices quizzes throughout the nursing assistant program. In order to move forward to the clinical portion of the program, students must have an 80 average on all quizzes and must score an 80 or better on the pre-clinical exam. Failure to achieve an 80 average and an 80 on the pre-clinical exam will result in dismissal from the program. Your instructor will counsel you throughout the program if there is a problem with your quiz grades. Retakes will be given (up to 3) at the discretion of your instructor.
